Dear members of the K.N.P.S.V.,

Every year during Ascension Day weekend, the Congress of the K.N.P.S.V. takes place. This spring, we, the 83rd Congress committee “Covert” of the K.N.P.S.V., have the honour of welcoming our members to come and enjoy a long weekend full of education and good company. Our name, “Covert”, comes from Latin and means “hidden”, something that will come back many times during the weekend.

Now it’s time to introduce ourselves. Firstly are our charming commissioners, Juliette and Lisca. Juul loves being in the kitchen, baking or cooking, but is also a very creative person. For example, she also likes to crochet. Lisca is a true shopaholic and the party animal of the group. Go on a night out with her, and you’ll be guaranteed to have an adventurous evening.

Our treasures, Sofieke and Ruurd, might be the ones to have one of the most important tasks: taking care of the money. Furthermore, Sofieke enjoys taking care of her plants in her free time and is studying Spanish at the moment as well. Ruurd loves baking and is also a true busy bee during his daily life.

Then comes our secretary, Joris, my second hand. He takes the notes of our meetings and is responsible for all contact with the chairperson for the day during the symposium, our speakers, and, of course, the participants. On top of his tasks in our committee, he enjoys sailing and playing hockey. Joris also ensures smooth sailing for everyone, which sometimes changes to making sure everyone is three sheets to the wind.

Last, but not least, is myself. My name is Jonno, and as president, I lead our committee and our meetings, and I help my fellow committee members wherever needed. In other words, I can meddle in everyone’s business as much as I like to. In my free time, I enjoy going on long walks. I’m also not shy of standing in the kitchen for hours on end, trying new recipes. This is something my fellow committee members, of course, reap the benefits from as well (except that it takes such a long time).

PS Naturally, our mascot and photographer/board representative also deserve an honourable mention. Our mascot, flown over from England, is Spoons, an otter with a backpack. Without Spoons, a party with Covert cannot be complete. The most loyal fan of our committee, who has lovingly taken all of our committee pictures, is Tharsiga. Needless to say, Thas is always in for causing a little mischief while partying with the rest of us.
