EPSA

Logo van EPSAThe European Pharmaceutical Students' Association (EPSA) is the European association for (bio)pharmaceutical students. It represents more than 100,000 members from 44 associations in 36 countries. EPSA's motto is ‘Bringing pharmacy, knowledge and students together’.

EPSA was founded in 1978 as the European subcommittee of the International Pharmaceutical Students' Federation (IPSF). In 1982, EPSA became officially independent from IPSF and was registered at the Tribunal d'Illkirch in Strasbourg, France.

EPSA is based in Brussels, Belgium, close to various European institutions. EPSA has links with various European professional partners, including the European associations of pharmacy, hospital pharmacists and industrial pharmacists, the EMA and various interest groups. In addition, EPSA also has links with student partner associations such as IPSF and the European associations of medicine, dentistry, psychology, nursing and more.

Possibilities within EPSA

As a member of the K.N.P.S.V., you are also a member of EPSA and can get involved with EPSA at European level, for example by joining an EPSA Team. You can also help with the implementation of a project in the Netherlands that is being carried out in various other European countries.

You can become active in EPSA in various sectors:

  • Public Health and Social Services
  • Education and Professional Affairs
  • Science
  • Training Project

EPSA Events

In addition to involvement in various projects, you can participate in various EPSA events.

EPSA Annual Congress

The largest EPSA event is the Annual Conress (AC). This seven-day congress is organised every year in April or May by a different European country. At the congress, the ins and outs of EPSA are discussed at the General Assembly (GA). Elections for a new EPSA Team also take place during the GA.

In addition, a symposium and various workshops, training courses and company excursions are organised during the congress, as well as social and cultural activities. The evening programme consists of various parties, including the opening ceremony, National Night, International Night, and the congress concludes with a gala.

The congress is a fun way to get in touch with (bio)pharmaceutical students from other European countries!

EPSA Autumn Assembly

Another major EPSA congress takes place in the autumn, the Autumn Assembly. This congress has a similar educational and social programme to the AC, but is one day shorter and therefore lasts six days. The biannual GA takes place during this congress.

EPSA Annual Reception

The Annual Reception takes place every year in February or March in Brussels. During this event, various projects and the work of EPSA are presented to honorary members, partners and sponsors of EPSA.

EPSA Summer University

Every year in the summer, the Summer University is organised. During this five- to six-day event, you can combine your holiday with study-related activities. Various workshops and lectures are held, and afterwards, a social programme is organised in the afternoons and evenings. The Summer University is sometimes organised in collaboration with other health-related European study associations under the name EHSAA Summer University.

Through EPSA, you can get in touch with pharmacy or pharmaceutical science students from all over Europe! This is a great way to discover how the programme is organised in other countries, make international contacts and get to know students in case you decide to study in another European country for a while.
